If you are planning a birthday party for your child then you are probably well aware that Woody, Buzz and all their friends are back on the silver screen. Get prepared for requests to host a TOY STORY 3 party, kids just love the film.

INVITATIONS
All parties start with an invitation. Making your own is dead easy. Just do a search on Google images for TOY STORY 3 and you  will get a great selection of images to choose from. Print off  the ones you like best. At a stationery shop get some coloured card,  not too thick as you will need to be able to run it through a printer. Yellow, red and green are perfect. If you are good with formatting text using  MS word then you can type the party details and print onto the card. Otherwise the details can be handwritten. Don’t forget to stick one of the  images you printed onto the card so the guests will know it is a TOY STORY 3 party. If you have the facilities to print the images in colour then it is well worth it.

If time is short the there is always the option of buying the invitations online.

DECORATIONS
When it comes to decorating your home or party venue for a TOY STORY 3 birthday party there is a fantastic choice. It is really a mixture of a Cowboy and Space party. Why noy go for the Wild West theme and use cowboy party supplies. For example get cowboy boot confetti to sprinkle on the table. Then of course there are balloons. We recommend going for a selection of blue , green and red. If you decide to fill the balloons with helium don’t forget to purchase balloon weights to stop them from disappearing into the sky.

It may seem a little strange having a birthday party that is based on a space and cowboy theme so to keep things even hanging a few foil covered stars from the ceiling will work well. Again you can make these yourself. Just get some cardboard, cut into star shapes and cover with tin foil.

GAMES
Games are an essential part of any birthday party. Without a ready supply of games the children will get bored and things will go downhill rapidly.  There are a number of well tried and tested games that most parents are familiar with and can be adapted to almost any party theme.

a. Treasure Hunt : Having access to an outdoor space allows you to organise a treasure hunt which is perfect for burning off excess energy. If you have a “Mr Potato Head” toy you could hide all the pieces around the garden. It is even better if you have two, you can then split the guests into two teams and have a race.

b. Pin The Tail : Another favourite that has been on the go for decades. How about getting some card, painting a sun on it and getting the guests to  ”pin a planet”. This will work in nicely with the space element of the TOY STORY 3 theme.

If possible always try to enlist the help of other adults to keep the games going. You will be busy getting drinks, mopping up spills and getting food ready. There  is no substitute for extra help. If necessary hire the help. Perhaps a child minder or baby sitter could be asked. It will be well worth the money.

PARTY BAGS
As the guests are been collected they will expect a party bag. As will all elements of the party there is the option of making your own going home presents. This takes a bit more planning and effort than purchasing pre filled party bags. We do not recommend one option over another. For parents who are comfortable assembling the party bags it can be very satisfying and allows each bag to be personalised. The decision is yours.
