HEN PARTIES – DRESSING UP

Hen parties are a traditional ritual for women about to get married. How the tradition came about I am not sure but for the night to go well it needs to be well organised

So the drink is flowing and the meal has gone well. The older relatives are starting to say goodbye. This is now the perfect opportunity to start getting into the hen night attire you purchased. Bunny ears, angel wings, tiaras, etc are all appropriate for a hen night. Dressing up for the hen night is all part of the ritual. It is a bit of fun and makes the statement that the Bride To Be and hens are ready to party. It removes any formality from the evening and certainly gets noticed by those around the party.

If the Bride To Be is happy with the prospect of getting dressed up in all the hen party gear then you will need to select a theme for the party. When considering the options you should be mindful of the spread of ages in the group. A “Wonder Woman ” theme is probably not going to suit some of the older relatives.

So when it comes to selecting a theme what are the options.

COVERT HENS
What I mean by this is a low key approach to the dressing up process. This is really the most conservative and least offensive option. A simple pair of devil horns or a sash is all that will be required. This is the most likely choice if the Bride is shy and does not want a great deal of attention when the hens are out celebrating.

WESTERN
In terms of preparation this theme is not a great deal more difficult than the “covert” hen party. A simple cheque shirt and cowboy hat is all that is required although I have seen the addition of a whip and “lasso” add some real spice to proceedings. Cowboy boots and hot pants can also bring the party to a new level but make sure that you will be allowed into the venue you are planning to visit.

SEX AND THE CITY
This theme allows those interested into getting dressed up to show just what they can do. Personally I think it is a great option as the hens can get dressed up in killer outfits but still avoid some of the traditional hen party gear (If they want to)

There are loads more options when it comes to dressing up but as party supply specialists we think it is hard to get better than the traditional hen night L -Plates, bunny ears and sashes. As the organiser you may want to consider purchasing all the gear in bulk and making up party bags for the hens. That will allow you more time on the evening itself as you do not want to have the hassle of handing out hen party gear on the big night out.

In previous posts I have discussed the use of party bags at hen parties so what not checkout the archive of posts, you are sure to find some useful information

CELLOPHANE PARTY BAGS

Cellophane party bags are relatively new but if you are hosting a child's birthday party they are certainly worth considering

Cellophane Party Bags

Would you like the guests to leave your childs birthday party with a smile on there face. Think of the satisfaction of hearing from parents that the party bags were the best they had seen. How good would you feel if people asked you for tips on how to put together such a unique party bag?

That will happen if you put a little thought and planning into the preparation of the party bags and in particular make use of cellophane party bags. Cellophane and organza party bags are relatively new additions to the vast array of party supplies available online and I must say they are a super addition.

For example at halloween there are some novel hand shaped party bags. These can be filled with goodies and treats or even used as decorations. In our blog you will find plenty of ideas for halloween so have a look over the next few months.

The cellophane party bags make a huge diference to the look of the going home present. You can fill it with the same party bag toys you had planned to put into a standard plastic party bag but it will look so much better. It’s all about presentation.

If you do decide to use cellophane party bags then they look best when tied with curling ribbon. It really adds to the look of the bag. Another option is to attach a helium balloon.

The great thing about cellophane party bags is that they do not cost a fortune. A packet of 8 cello party bags will only cost about an extra 40p, well worth it if you are trying to create a special party bag.

PARTY BAGS FOR HEN PARTIES

In a previous post I discussed the use of cello party bags at hen parties, and in particular their use in presenting the Bride To Be with gifts and momentos from friends and family. If you do it correctly the process of presenting the gifts can be an activity in itself and greatly enhance the enjoyment of the hen party for everyone.

As the organiser you may also want to consider the use of cello bags in the preparation of hen party kits / goodie bags. So what are hen party goodie bags and what should you include in them?

From past experience I recommend that if you are organising a hen party you purchase all the traditional paraphenalia associated with the night such as pink wigs, bottom pinchers and flashing sashes. If you leave it up to individuals some will get “dressed up” and others won’t which is a situation you want to avoid. Is is best to have everyone “singing off the same hymn sheet” and a sense of unity about the evening. By asking everyone to contribute to a kitty and purchasing all the
hen gear in bulk you can ensure all the hens are “appropriately” dressed.

You can also use the process of handing out the gear as an “ice breaker” game or activity. Perhaps some of the hens do not know each other very well or are a little shy. To help inject a bit of fun into the process why not wrap each item in a cello party bag with a message included. For example wrap up a an inflatable man with the message / dare ” give to the hen in most need of a man” That way someone has to open the item and then interact with the rest of the guests.

In preparing a selection of gifts and accessories for the hens, turn the process into a fun activity. That way you can be sure people will enter into the fun of the evening as well as been dressed in all the hen party gear. The manner in which the accessories are presented should be thought out carefully as it can be sed to your advatage and an opportunity to get the party started on the right footing.

If you have tried using cello party bags at a hen party or preseting the hens with dress up gear why not post a note on the blog and help other hen party organisers get the most out of the evening.

CELLO PARTY BAGS FOR HEN PARTIES

If you have been asked to organise a hen party you should consider it a complement that the Bride To Be trusts you with one of the landmark events in her life. Hopefully she has given you plenty of warning allowing you time to organise the guest list , venue and activities. They are the basic three items you need to tie down as quickly as possible.

Next on your list should be the hen night party bag presents. There are two types of party bag presents.

1. Those you give to the Bride To Be
2. Those you give to the Hens

In this post I will focus on the presents for the Bride To Be and how best to present them.  As specialist suppliers of party bags and presents we are always on the look out for unique, unusual and cost effective ways to present a present so if you have any suggestions that our readers would enjoy please feel free to drop us a line.

One of our favourite types of party bag is the Cello Party Bag. They are a super substitute for standard wrapping and are perfect for use on a hen night.

First off you should ask all the hens to send a selection of small gifts and momentos one of which should be a genuine gift such as a small bottle of perfume the others should be items that will cause a stir and bring back memories of the “good old days”. It might be something as simple as an old holiday photo.

The way you present the gifts can have a big influence on the evening. By organising things properly you can involve everyone and direct everyone’s attention on the Bride To Be which is what the evening is all about.  If you have thirty or so small gifts then you can spread there presentation throughout the evening. Genuine gifts first followed by some of the “steamier” momentos.  As the evening develops the hens will have had more to drink and the reaction to some of the “memories” will keep the party going.

So why use cello party bags to wrap the gifts. Firstly they are a little unusual and look great.  Secondly you can see what gift you are giving the Bride To Be. This is important as you want to present gifts at the appropriate moment for maxium effect and thirdly they are hard to tear open which will add to the suspense.

Because you will have quite a few gifts you are probably better off using a mixture of traditional wrapping and cello party bags just for a bit of variety but we certainly recommend you include cello party bags.

PARTY BAGS – SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR A HEN PARTY

If you are organising a hen party the Bride To Be has probably given you

make sure all the hens enter into the spirit of the party by handing out party bags at the start of the party

Party Bags for Hen Nights

some broad guidelines as to what she expects, but no matter what format she suggests it is your job to ensure that the focus of the celebration is totally on her. One way of ensuring this happens is through the use of party bags.

In this post I will have a look at party bags for the hen night / weekend. Most of us associate party bags with childrens parties, however they
are becomming part and parcel of most party occassions.

When it comes to hen parties it can work either way. For example, on arrival each hen maybe given a party bag full of hen party stuff such as
sashes, boas, shot glasses etc, basically a selection of accessories and games that are traditionally associated with hen parties.

On the other hand as “Head Hen” you may decide to organise a party bag for the Bride To Be containing a mixture of L-Plates, head boppers etc as well as old trinkets and photos of days gone past. The focus of the whole event should be on the Bride To Be and a party bag or hamper of gifts and momentos from friends and family is a super way of raising a few laughs and ensuring all the guests are included.

So what would I suggest ? Do both, organise a “kitty” and go online to purchase a selection of hen party gear, not forgetting the compulsory
inflatable man.  Get some brightly coloured pink or gold bags and have them waiting for the guests as they arrive at the appointed venue. Make
sure everyone joins in the fun and wears the bits and pieces you purchase.

The party bag for the hen will require slightly more planning and you will probably need to start the process a month to six weeks in advance.  Some of the guests may live abroad so you should give them plenty of time to assemble photos, stories , poems and momentos.

Whatever decision you make regarding the party bags make should the Bride To Be is the focus of all your efforts. It is her big night.

Because we specialise in pre filled party bags I cannot finish this post without drawing your attention to that option
