FIRST HOLY COMMUNION PARTY ORGANISATION

Pre Filled Party Bags for First Holy Communion parties

Party Bags for First Holy Communion

Organising a First Holy Communion party takes a lot of time and effort and in reality differs very little from preparing for any other celebration such as a child’s birthday party.  However I do recommend that the religious aspect of the day is not forgotten. It can be something as simple as saying Grace before meals.  Otherwise it is a fantastic opportunity for extended family and friends to meet up and chat.

As well as been a religious occassion the 1st Holy Communion party will differ from other parties in that the guest list is likely to be varied in age. You could have guests from zero to 100 and as all good hosts should you will need to cater for all requirements.

Yesterday I dealt with the choice of party venue and today I will have a look at some of the other items you may want to consider.

1. PARTY BAGS
Chances are you will have both children and adults at the party, in which case it is a good idea to have party bags. If anything they will keep them occupied for half an hour or so. Traditionally they are given out at the end of the party but in the case of a Holy Communion party there is merit to the idea of handing them out during the party. If you do decide to  try this option then the party bags will need to be of a high quality as the idea is to give the kids something to do. At one Holy Communion party I attended the host handed out pre filled party bags which included an airfix model for the boys. There was a room set aside for them to make the models. The affect was amazing. They were busy and quiet for hours.

1. GUEST LIST
Once you sit down with pen and paper you will realise just how big the potential guest list is. It is  standard to invite extended family so as well as grandparents you will also need to consider uncles, aunts, cousins and god parents. As you can see the numbers can build up quickly. You will need to strike a balance between the available space and the numbers you need to invite. Realistically it is very difficult to leave anyone out so you may have to rethink the loaction for the party. If your home is not big enough you may have no alternative but to host the party elsewhere.

2. INVITATIONS
Here the choice will be between pre made Holy Communion party invitations which you can purchase in our online shop or you can make them yourself. There is a third option and that is to get bespoke invitations printed.  They will certainly be unique but it will cost more.

3. PARTY MUSIC
The choice of music and entertainment will really depend on the composition of the guest list and how long you expect the party to last. Some people organise large parties and expect the guests to stay late into the evening. If that is the case then hiring a band or DJ is certainly worth considering. However in my experience Holy Communion parties are very much a  family afair and most guests will leave in the early evening.

4. DECORATIONS
The decorations for the First Holy Communion should follow the same principles as any other party except they should be  based on a religious theme. There are plenty of decorations, including balloons and banners available in our online shop.

As you can see there is plenty to organise, but one thing that you can be sure of, partyproductsdirect.co.uk will bring you the  best selection of pre filled party bags available on the web today. You do not need to look any further.

PARTY BAGS AND FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

There are many landmark events in your child’s life and First Holy Communion is one of them. I t is a very special occassion where the child receives the sacrament of First Holy Communion with his / her school class and is proudly supported by family.  Because it is such a major milestone it is a perfect opportunity to gather extended family and friends to celebrate.

It is very important not to lose sight of the religious aspect of the day and give it the priority it warrants but once that is element is arranged the focus should switch to organising a a party that includes family and friends.

As with all parties I cannot emphasise how important it is to plan in advance.  The only thing that will not change is the date. This will be set by the local parish and school so once it is confirmed you can start planning.

The first big decision will centre on where you should hold the party. Basically you have four choices

1. Host the party in your home and do the catering yourself
2. Host the party at home and employ outside caterers
3. Host the party in a venue outside the home and do the catering yourself
4. Host the party in a venue outside the home and let them also look after the catering

The two main influences on what you decide will be

1. The size of your house
2. Budget

There is no doubt that doing all the catering in your own home will save money but that must be balanced with the space available. If you are using the First Holy Communion party as a chance to invite extended family and friends you are more than likely going to need quite a bit of space and don’t forget there will be a mixture of adults and children. The younger guests will need plenty of room to run around and burn off some energy.

The option of doing the catering yourself in an alternative venue is not something I would recommend. The hassle of transporting food on the day of the Holy Communion is something you will not need.

Probably the best option is to host the party at home but get a little help. You could buy in the food and just heat it on the day or you could hire a catering company to do it all from start to finish. Hosting the First Holy Communion party in your home can be more relaxing for the guests and generates a more  “family friendly” atmosphere.

No matter where you decide to host the party you will need First Holy Communion party supplies including invitations, balloons, tableware and of course party bags.  More than likely there will be children involved and although it is a Holy Communion party they will look on it as any other type of party. They will expect sweets, games and party bags.

When it comes to the party bags, basically you have the same options as any birthday party, including  pre filled party bags. In later posts I will deal with Holy Communion party bags in more detail.
