Party Games and Party Bags for St Patricks DayST PATRICK’s  DAY FUN

With St Patrick’s Day fast approaching I thought it would be a good idea to outline a few party games and party bag ideas.  It goes without saying that any St Patrick’s Day celebration should be very green and very Irish.  All the games I suggest are just variations on tradditional games that you will be familiar with.

PIN THE GREEN TAIL ON THE LEPRECHAUN

Get a big picture of a Leprechaun. It should be easy enough to download from the internet or you could cut one from a magazine. Place the picture on a wall. Blindfold each guest in turn and get them to stick a tail or a shamrock on the leprechaun. Whoever gets closest to the designated spot wins. You can have all sorts of variations on this game.

POT OF GOLD THROW.

Leprechauns are famous for hording a pot of gold so why not incoproate the pot of gold into a party game. Make a pot by covering a plant holder or other such object with foil or whatever takes your fancy. Then get the guests to line up and toss a bean bag or “money bag” into the pot. Give the guests three turns and whoever get his / her bag into the pot the most number of times wins. Simple yet effective.

Of course don’t forget the party bags. Make sure they are green. If you are having difficulty getting green bags then cellopane bags tied at the top with a green ribbon and balloon are just as effective.

PARTY CAKE – FLAVOURS AND COLOURS

Party cakes and food recipies from partyproductsdirect

Marble Cake

In previous posts I went trough some basic recipies for a Swiss Roll and Victoria Sponge. The next step is to outline how you can add a little flavour or colour to the basic recipies.  Don’t forget you will need to add the flavours to the cake mix before it is baked.

Vanilla :  Never seems like a big deal but 1/2 teaspoon will make a difference

Chocolate : 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder can be added to the flour

Orange : I X teaspoon grated rind and juice from 1/2 orange can be mixed with the butter

Lemon : I X teaspoon grated rind and juice from 1/2 lemon can be mixed with the butter

Marble : A few drops of pink colouring and 1 dessertspoon of chocolate powder.  The above ingredients can be used to make a marble cake, full of colour and excitment! Divide the prepared sponge equally  between three bowls, then colour one pink, one chocolate and leave one plain. Fill the cake tin you are using to bake the cake in from the three bowls. To get a good mix put the mixture into the tin one spoon at a time from alternative batches. Then give it a good swirl before baking.

Children are fasinated by marble cakes and you can make up all sorts of stories as to how you did it.

At the end of all my posts I remind readers that we specialise in pre filled party bags for all ages. Don’t forget they are not just for children. Hen parties are also perfect for giving out party bags. Let your imagination run riot.

PARTY FOOD

At partyproductsdirect we want you to have a great party and we hope you find this blog useful. Also don't forget we are specialist party bag supplies.

Party Food and Cakes

At partyproductsdirect we specialise in party bags for childrens birthday parties including pre filled party bags.  When you are trying to organise a birthday party you can do with all the help you can get and hopefully you will find something useful in our blog posts.

On the topic of help don’t forget to get assistance from friends and family on the day of the party. A few extra adults will lighten the load considerably.

Now onto the party food. It is important that the food you serve is small, or bitesize. This is a good idea for a couple of reasons. Firstly the guests will be eager to taste all the goodies and treats. Smaller portions give them an opportunity to do so without leaving a plate of “left overs” and secondly from a safety point of view.

Children love crisps, chips, chocolate , etc so don’t take the moral high ground and try to serve healthy subsititutes, your child and the guests won’t thank you. We also suggest trying to balance ready made food with some homemade food as well. It will be less expensive and a little more satisfying for you.

On the subject of home made food we will be posts on a weekly basis giving advice, tips and menu suggestions.

Don’t forget to drop us a line of you have any suggestions.

Childrens Parties – Entertainment Options.

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Parties are all about entertainment and this is especially true for childrens birthday parties.  Never underestimate the effort and planning that
is required to keep the children entertained.

One option favoured by busy parents is to hire a party entertainer. These are typically magicians, balloon artists and clowns but over recent years we
have noticed a subtle change.

Companies that specialise in corporate away days are now targeting the childrens party market.  It may seem a bit over the top but in reality the kids
love parties with action and adventure as the central theme. This is especially true for children of 10 years and older. This age group can be very hard
to entertain and traditional party activities and games can be regarded as too juvenile.

Whatever your opinion it is well worth investigating if there are any such companies operating in your locality.

In the midst of all the planning don’t forget the all important topic of party bags. Here at party products direct we can help. Just click through
to our online shop.

When it comes to hosting a successful party there is no substitute for carefull planning. Always plan for the worst and hope for the best. That way you will not be disappointed.

Children’s Birthday Party Plans

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

When it comes to childrens birthday parties I am a great believer in proper planning and creating lists of things to do. A few simple, well planned rules will keep the party running smoothly. So let’s get a list organised

1. make a list of the guests names and telephone numbers.
2. have a simple first aid kit prepared and check if any of the guests have a nut allergy.
3. Prevent accidents by been proactive.  Safely store any dangerous garden implements.
4. If you have booked an entertainer have a contingency plan in case he can’t make it.
5. Make a detailed list of the party games you are planning. This is essential.

Propably the most important thing to do when hosting a party for your child is to get help. The more support you have from friends or family the better.

Don’t forget the party supplies either. Shop online for the themed tableware, party invitations and decorations  and make sure you check the delivery well in advance.
